Blue Cheese Guacamole Recipe
When you hear those words together, “blue cheese” and “guacamole”, it may sound a little weird, but once you try it, you might just fall in love with this unique twist on an old favorite. Everyone has their own homemade guacamole recipe, and the difference between a good guacamole dip and a great one might just be that secret ingredient. Gather the following ingredients up and see if blue cheese guacamole recipe is up your alley.
Blue Cheese Guacamole Ingredients
2 Avocados
1 Cup Blue Cheese
1 Tomato
1/4 Cup Onion
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt (more or less to your preference)
1 Teaspoon Hot Sauce (more or less to your preference)
Instructions
Start by mashing up the avocados. If you want something a little chunkier to go with the blue cheese, you may want to just mash one avocado and dice the other. If you dice one, set it aside for now.
Mix the avocado with the salt, garlic salt, lemon juice and hot sauce. Dice your onion and mix it in.
Take your blue cheese and crumble it into small pieces. The smaller the better. There will be some chunks, regardless, so just go ahead and try to crumble it down to nothing even if you want it a little chunky. Mix it into the avocado.
You want to save the tomato for last. Dice it up big or small, to your preference, and mix it in gently. If you have a nice, fresh tomato, the last thing you want to do is smash it up when you make guacamole, so mix it in gently to keep it in nice, juicy little chunks. If you like, you can sprinkle some chopped cilantro on top as garnish and to give it a little extra something.
Blue Cheese Guacamole Recipe Tips And Variations
Now, obviously you’re thinking of setting this out on the appetizer table with some tortilla chips, but why not get a little more creative? Why go through all the trouble of making a special blue cheese guacamole dip only to serve it like any other, right?
Instead of just throwing it on some chips, try making some bruschetta with a sourdough baguette. You just slice and toast the baguette, put the guacamole on top, and you have some exciting little pieces of food to treat your guests with. The blue cheese and tomato also serve to make this a great sauce to drizzle over some omelets early in the morning.
