Chunky Guacamole Recipe
Most chefs have their own preference when it comes to dips: chunky or smooth. Guacamole dip is no different. By and large, you tend to only see smooth guacamole dips simply because that’s what seems to be more popular amongst Mexican food lovers. However, this chunky guacamole recipe may just change the minds of anyone who tries it.
Start checking off the following ingredient list.
Chunky Guacamole Ingredients
2 Avocados
1 Tomato
1/2 Cup Onion
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt (or more or less depending on your own preferences)
1/2 Teaspoon Hot Sauce (more or less)
The main difference here is that most guacamole recipes will have you mashing your avocados into a fine paste. Here, you only want to mash one of them. The other, dice into small chunks and keep chill.
Instructions
Mix your mashed avocado together with your lemon juice, salt, garlic salt and hot sauce. Gently stir in the onion, tomato and finally the diced avocado.
How Chunky Do You Want It To Be?
The other part of chunky guacamole is really all down to you and how chunky you want it: when dicing up your vegetables, how thick do you want them to be? Okay, maybe inch-thick cubes is a bit much, but about half as wide as your pinky is a fair rule of thumb, and you can go a little thicker or thinner depending on your preferences.
Chunky Guacamole Recipe Variations And Suggestions
You’re probably already thinking of how great this will taste on some chips, but as something of a wild serving suggestion, why not replace those tortilla chips with some corn tortilla quesadillas? Just fry up your favorite quesadilla recipe, let the oil dry, and cut it up into triangular, tortilla chip like slices. The thicker nature of this guacamole recipe just seems to call for something a little more than plain old dipping chips.
Another suggestion is to add about a half cup of mayonnaise and turn the guacamole dip into a guacamole salad dressing for a sort of a southwestern twist to that old chicken Caesar. The chunky vegetables make it just perfect to throw on some romaine lettuce with some warm, sliced chicken breast and a little bit of shredded cheddar on top. From there, you can just get creative and try replacing traditional guacamole with chunky in everything from tacos and burritos to appetizer plates, chip dip and every other Mexican food dish your family already loves.
