Delicious Garlic Guacamole Recipe
This delicious garlic guacamole recipe can be used as a dip, on sandwiches, and paired as a side dish for common authentic Mexican dishes such as tacos and tasty fajitas. Fresh ingredients work the best and provide the most nutrition. If the fresh ingredients are not in season, canned ingredients or dry ingredients will also work as a substitute. This recipe is simple to make and works well at holiday parties, company gatherings, family dinners, and social occasions. Try serving this garlic guacamole with a frozen mango margarita for a delectable mix of sweet and savory.
Garlic Guacamole Ingredients
4 medium-sized avocados, seeded, and mashed
3/4 cup of sour cream
1 medium tomato, diced
¼ cup of finely-diced green onions
¼ cup of minced celery
½ cup of minced garlic
¼ cup of diced yellow bell pepper
1 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp. of sea salt
1 tsp. of hot sauce
½ tsp. of cayenne pepper
1 tbsp. of brown sugar
2 tbsp. of fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
In a small pan, heat the olive oil and toss in green onions, celery, garlic, and yellow bell pepper. Stir frequently and let simmer over medium-heat until ingredients have softened (about 8 minutes). While these items are simmering, combine the diced tomato and mashed avocado in a mixing bowl. Stir together well. Add sour cream and continue to mix by hand with a fork or spoon.
In a separate small bowl, combine fresh parsley, cayenne pepper, and brown sugar. Set aside. Remove roasted vegetables from pan and stir into the avocado-tomato-sour cream mixture, and mix well. Stir in dry seasoning ingredients from the small bowl. The roasted garlic mixture will add a smoky, savory flavor to the guacamole and your family will love this special treat!
Garlic Guacamole Recipe Suggestions
This recipe serves 10-12 people and can be used as a dip with fresh baked tortilla chips. To make the tortilla chips, simply slice flour tortillas with a pizza cutter, place on baking sheet and bake in oven at 325 for 5-7 minutes. These chips provide a healthier option to store-purchased chips.
If this is your first time to make guacamole at home, you will be pleasantly surprised with the simplicity of this garlic guacamole recipe. It is also a great starter recipe to encourage children and teens to learn to cook. To remove the spicy kick to the recipe, the cayenne pepper can be replaced with regular black pepper, although the brown sugar helps to balance the heat of this recipe.
