Simple And Easy Guacamole Recipe
Anyone can make this easy guacamole dip. Although it is a simple recipe, the flavors combine for a true, rich, Soutwestern taste experience. It is extremely popular at parties where people can eat it as a dip with corn chips, bean dip, salsa and sour cream, but it is a wonderful side for any Southwestern, Mexican or Mediterranean style dinner. Generally, it tastes fresher when made within an hour of serving, but, if the pit or seed of one of the avocados sits in the middle helping the guacamole stay fresh, it will keep up to 24 hours. In addition, for those with sensitive stomachs, it seems that this recipe is milder than those using raw onion and garlic. Avocado, of course, is very calming to the stomach. Within about fifteen minutes of preparation time, anyone can whip up this guacamole. It is a winner in fast food and taste.
Simple Guacamole Ingredients
3 large or 4 small avocados
1 t. onion powder
1/2 t. garlic powder
1 T lemon or lime juice (fresh, frozen and thawed, or canned, measured to taste)
Instructions
Cut the avocado into quarter sections and remove the peeling and seed. Set one of the seeds aside. Throw the rest of the peeling and seeds away. Place avocado in a medium-sized mixing bowl or food processor and add the other ingredients. Mash all the ingredients together until the avocado is smooth. Scoop the guacamole into a serving bowl or food storage container.
If serving time is less than an hour away, let guacamole to remain at room temperature so the flavors will merge, but store the dip in the refrigerator if serving time is more than one hour away. Be sure to nestle at least one seed in the middle of the guacamole to ensure continued freshness. As strange as this action may sound, avocado begins to brown soon after the preparer removes the seed pit and even the acid in the lemon juice does not prevent discoloration and the spoilage that soon follows.
